DeKaap Wines
There are 25 year old Cabernet Sauvignon vines , as well as much younger Malbec , Cabernet Franc , and Grenache Noir Vines surrounding the homestead.
The annual harvest is sent to winemaker Lourens van der Westhuisen , owner of Arendsig Estate in Robertson , where he produces Cabernet Sauvignon and Blanc de Noir wines of exceptional quality under the deKaap brand.
These single vineyard wines are made with minimal interference throughout vinification . During fermentation natural yeast is used and no enzymes. Maturation takes place in neutral vessels to bring through the unique vineyard character.

Cabernet Sauvignon The majority of vines at deKaap Vineyards
More quality wines are made from Cabernet Sauvignon than any other red variety . Originating in the Bordeaux’s left bank region, it produces full bodied, elegant wines . The grape has been grown in the Napa Valley, California. It produces full bodied, deep coloured wines with blackcurrant, mint, and green pepper flavours.
Cabernet Franc Approximately one eighth of vines at deKaap Vineyards
A Cabernet Sauvignon relation, the Cabernet Franc delivers reds in a lighter style with flavours of blackberries , redcurrants and herbs . Used in the Loire Valley for various Bordeaux Blends .
Malbec Approximately one eighth of vines at deKaap Vineyards
Malbec is a gutsy red with spicy red berry flavours . Grown in France and Argentina . Results in deep coloured reds with powerful tannins .
Grenache Noir Approximately one quarter of vines at deKaap Vineyards
Produces high alcohol, juicy pepper and cherry flavoured wines . We have dedicated our Grenache Noir Block to producing a Blanc de Noir of high standard . These vines are young and promising.
